the future

So I aimed to update sooner than this, but all the homework and stuff I keep getting end up preventing me from doing so. Some people might say it’s stupid if you can’t find 30 minutes to update, but I also like to read through comments and return them and blog hop, so it ends up taking quite a while! But here I am. :)

I’ve also been busy thinking about the future! It’s so strange. Most people in my year have this idea of what they want to do and are off to University or a job next year, but me? I’ve had no real idea for a long time. One thing I really want to be is an author, but I’m not sure if that will ever happen or not, so I really need something else there. I don’t have a desire to go away to University because of loads of things that have happened in the past and the fact that we can’t afford it and I don’t want to come out in debt, so for a long time I’ve been feeling pretty confused. But I’ve finally decided! Through the Open University I’m (hopefully) going to study both Chemistry and English, because they interest me, and hopefully get a part-time job at the same time. That way I can study at my own pace, do other things, still get a degree, and even if I don’t ever use it in a job, it’ll still be some extra knowledge and skills that I will have gained. :) I think distance-learning is an excellent thing that I’d already recommend to anyone who isn’t sure what they want to do in the future. Going away to University isn’t for everyone, and don’t ever feel pressured into it! One thing a lot of teachers at my Sixth Form seem to do is try and convince everyone that you’ll be nothing without Uni… it’s not true. You just need a goal.

Anyway! That’s about all that’s been going on in my life. Just studying and lots of thinking.

Some questions for you guys, inspired by what I was just typing about:

1. What will you be doing when you finish school? University or a job? Or are you completely unsure? (If you’ve already finished school, what are you doing? At Uni or working?)
2. What is your perfect career?
3. Are you a motivated person? Or does your motivation tend to abandon you?

Thanks so much, glad you like it!
Yeah, it’s nice to give someone else a mention sometime.

1. What will you be doing when you finish school? University or a job? Or are you completely unsure?
Hopefully studying Medicine.

2. What is your perfect career?
Surgeon

3. Are you a motivated person? Or does your motivation tend to abandon you?
I’m pretty motivated when I want to be!

Yeah, I actually bought a domain last week, and I’m setting it up now. It’s going to be my personal blog/portfolio :D

Good luck on becoming an author. It would be terrible if you had to settle doing something that wasn’t your dream. Haha I sound like a fortune cookie :X

1. I want to go to Uni but there is no way I will be able to afford it.
2. I want to be a photographer or a journalist. Preferably both. But my mum tells me that both occupations make barely any money. :/
3. Honestly, no I’m not. I wish I was though. I just seem to lose track of everything I do. D:

thanks :D
I am really jealous of that girl lol!
Maybe one day we could do this barbershop if we had voices like that!!! :p

I have really been feeling the pressure to choose what I want to do.
I am the most indecisive person, and I can’t ever make my mind :(

1. What will you be doing when you finish school? University or a job? Or are you completely unsure? (If you’ve already finished school, what are you doing? At Uni or working?) I am still in school. I really wouldn’t like to do uni but my parents say I have to. Sigh.
2. What is your perfect career? ^cricket sound^
3. Are you a motivated person? Or does your motivation tend to abandon you? it tends to abandon me :(

I’m glad you’ve settled on your plan! Which really does sound well suited for you. ;) It’s probably something I would do as well; have a part time job and try to attend uni at the same time.

I hope you don’t mind, but I thought I’d throw in a suggestion – if you ever find it too difficult to juggle uni work and your part-time job, you could always take a gap year to save up for uni then attend uni.

Our system however is different in Australia. The government pay’s for our course until we get a job, and the uni fee gets deducted as part of our tax.

You’re right, there are other pathways other than uni. And this is sort of sadly something that I’ve realised not long ago.

1. What will you be doing when you finish school?
I am unsure at the moment, however I have a ‘fall out’ or backup plans. I think my first plan will depend on my UAI/score to get into university, my other choices including teaching, management and if I can’t get into uni (which I hope will NEVER happen) I’d probably want to work in an art gallery. Possibly selling artworks? Though I’m not to keen on working on commissions.

2. What is your perfect career?
Doing something I love, and earning enough money to live a fairly good standard of living.

3. Are you a motivated person? Or does your motivation tend to abandon you?
I am a pretty determined person, and I sometimes work harder than I need to, which is sort of sad, because I put my heart out in almost everything and I do, and I usually only end up earning a few marks more than someone who studied less than an hour, the night before.

updating/running a website does take a lot of time, thats why i usually abandon mine but this time im just going to take a simple route and not mess with coding, content, and hopefully that will make it much easier to keep up haha

1. what will you be doing when you finish school?
Hopefully i will find a suitable job, i probably won’t go to grad school unless my job will pay for it because the amount of loans i will be paying after i graduate it more than enough i will be able to handle :/

2. Hopefully doing something that i enjoy with amazing people, thats all i want.

3. Im pretty motivated when I choose my projects that I want to work at, and i won’t stop unless I succeed.

Yeah you really must go after something that you enjoy coz that’s gonna keep you going. Good luck with your plans in life :)

1. What will you be doing when you finish school? University or a job? Or are you completely unsure? (If you’ve already finished school, what are you doing? At Uni or working?) I’ll be graduating from college on March 2010 so i’ll be getting a job by then.
2. What is your perfect career? Haven’t thought of the perfect career yet but hopefully i’ll end up in a job that I enjoy plus pays well, too!
3. Are you a motivated person? Or does your motivation tend to abandon you? I can say that i’m pretty much a motivated person especially when I enjoy what i’m doing :)
